Two Dollar Website Challenge

One of my clients asked me what the cost would be for a new website.. and of course there’s no straight answer to that – it totally depends.. And after years of web development, I know the cost can be anything from a few hundred dollars, to thousands.

But it got me thinking – surely I could find a good combination of components, and then create a tutorial that lets people do the work themselves – which really boils down to registering a domain name, and then loading an ‘easy to manage’ website onto the domain – hence the $2 dollar website challenge was born..

Now I know that I can easily set a basic website up in less than 30 minutes, from start to finish. Most people are only going to do this once, for their own website. So why go to all the bother of learning, why not follow a simple step by step tutorial, and then get on with the fun work of running thew website?

There are literally thousands of hosting companies – good ones and not so good. It’s easy to register a domain name. Then you need to have a website design. And then of course you need to create and manage content. And lastly – you need to market the site if you want visitors.

Simply go to the main menu ‘Free Tutorial’, or choose the individual videos from the links in the sidebar – and follow along!
